Collateral may be widely available to fans on the Netflix streaming platform, but it first aired on BBC Two in February 2018. The series stars Mulligan, an acclaimed TV and film star, as Kip Glaspie, a detective detective tasked with investigating the bewildering mystery of a murdered pizza delivery driver. Unfortunately for many fans of Collateral, it doesn’t look like there will be a second installment anytime soon. Shortly after Collateral is out, series creator David Hare has spoken about the origins of the series and what he sees in the future.
Not only did Hare reveal that he had originally conceived Collateral like a movie, but he also said his early feedback on the series from BBC executives was negative: “They said the people this movie is about won’t see it if it. is at the movies. If you put it on TV, the people it is about will actually watch it. “
When asked if he was planning a second season of the popular series, Hare’s response was immediate: “Nobody asked us… The courage I needed to say no when no one else. ‘asked.”
The writer admitted that while he thought fans would like to see Mulligan continue to play the character of Kip, he said he had “absolutely no intention” of plotting any additional storylines for Collateral. Therefore, it looks like fans will have to be content with the content that currently exists, knowing that there will likely be no more new episodes.
