KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 – Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has extended its reimbursement assistance formulas to its customers affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement released today, Maybank said the repayment assistance programs included a loan deferral (moratorium) for a period of three months – a 50% reduction in the monthly payment for a period of six months.

“This is available to all individual B40 clients who are registered under the Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) / Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) program (whether they have lost their jobs) and clients from any income segment who have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic or MCO, ”he said.

He said micro-enterprises with loan facilities not exceeding RM 150,000, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are not allowed to operate during the MCO with full foreclosure (for example, those that do not appear on the list of sectors authorized by the National Security Council).

Meanwhile, Maybank said it also offers a proportional reduction in monthly payment repayment for any individual customer, regardless of income classification (B40, M40 or T20), or other micro-businesses, SMEs or any person with reduced income (including household income for individuals).

“Other borrowers who do not fall into the above categories but who may encounter financial difficulties during this MCO can also discuss with the bank other forms of repayment assistance to help them overcome their difficulties. during this period, “he said.

Group chairman and chief executive Datuk Abdul Farid Alias ​​said Maybank understands that customers affected by the pandemic and current movement restrictions will have difficulty meeting their repayment obligations.
