CalHealthCares Loan Repayment Program hosts webinars for applicants

CalHealthCares’ next application cycle begins January 24, 2022. CalHealthCares is offering student loan debt repayment to California physicians and dentists who provide care to Medi-Cal patients.

Eligible physicians can request a loan repayment premium of up to $ 300,000 in exchange for a five-year service obligation. Eligible dentists can request a loan repayment premium of up to $ 300,000 in exchange for a five-year service obligation or a practice support grant of up to $ 300,000 in exchange for a 10-year service obligation. The program is funded by Voter-approved Proposition 56 (2016) and state tax revenues.

All eligible physicians and dentists are encouraged to apply. The CalHealthCares application cycle for fiscal year 2021-2022 (Cohort 4) ends on February 25, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.

Assistance to candidates


Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications during the Early Review Period, January 24 to February 4, 2022. The Early Review Period will provide applicants the opportunity to receive feedback from CalHealthCares staff regarding any discrepancies in their applications and resubmit their applications with modifications.


Additionally, CalHealthCares will host informational webinars to assist applicants with the application process. The webinars will provide an overview of the application, important deadlines, common mistakes and the scoring system. The webinars will conclude with a live question-and-answer session and information on scheduling one-on-one sessions for potential candidates.
